Getting Attuned to Reiki

Just like every Reiki session is different and almost every Reiki practitioner will have their own methods - getting attuned to Reiki is just the same. This is why I believe in really finding the right person and mentor to connect with when looking to get attuned. I will discuss how attunements have changed and what my attunement looked like.

Reiki has changed in many ways from its origins in the mid-1800's. Back when Mrs. Takata brought Reiki to the United States, it would take years and tens of thousands of dollars to make it to the Master Teacher level. Nowadays, you can go online and get attuned to Reiki without ever leaving your home, and even get to Master Teacher level within a month… maybe even less time than that.

Do I think it can be done in a short time?

Yes.

Without judgment… I didn't want that for myself and that is not the way I plan to bring Reiki to others. One, for the respect of tradition and the respect of the trade that is being taught. Two, each level of Reiki has its own purpose with a different set of tools to learn. I believe that for me and the students I teach, it is best to sit with this new knowledge and higher vibration. To let it sink in and for them to truly grab ahold of the energy and material being passed down.

Of course, that is my personal opinion and I truly believe that each one of us will do what's best for them whether they get attuned to Reiki online or in-person, and to whom they are getting attuned by.

My story - I was pregnant with my first child at the time when I began to get big nudges from God that I needed to move forward with what had been in the back of my mind for a while, getting attuned to Reiki. It started with me waking up and my hands would feel numb. It was like they were filled with so much energy and I didn't know what to do with it. At the time, after waking up with this energy in my hands I would wait 20-30 minutes for it to go away. Finally, one morning it was like a big light bulb turned on in my head. I sat up and said, "Okay, God. I will find someone to attune me to Reiki".

Luckily, I belonged to the local Chamber of Commerce and had been networking with my essential oil business for a few years. Not too long after my "ah-ha" moment, I was attending a social networking event. Somehow, just like the Universe does, I was gravitated towards a lady with blonde hair. She shared with me about her multimedia marketing business but then we began talking about spiritual things and… you guessed it… Reiki! I found out she was a Shaman and Reiki Master. It felt so right and I knew she would be the one to attune me to Reiki.

The day of my Reiki Level 1 attunement, I went to her house and we talked about the history of Reiki and she just gave me so much information about the spiritual world and energy. About an hour in, we started to get ready for my attunement and I just remember being so excited. She had me sit in a chair while she tuned in by lighting a frankincense incense. After she was tuned in, she gave me a reading. She told me my aura was yellow, that I was a Star Seed, and my mom even came through and reminded me how she is always with me.

After my reading, she began my attunement. She stood behind me while I was still in the chair and right away I could feel this burst of energy. My eyes started vibrating really fast as she was attuning me to the Reiki symbols. I now experience this same eye vibration when I'm working with clients and have major downloads coming in. It didn't take long for her to do the whole attunement but it is a moment in my life I will never forget. My initiation into Reiki is one of the most defining moments in my life other than giving birth to my children.
